Editor's Note

At the start, the team and I was unsure what to call the magazine. Eventually, we decided on Island Post. Why? For starters, our stories features strictly people and issues that concern the little island we’re on.

While I was writing this note, I came across a quote by Isaac Bashevis which I think gives our name more life; “Our knowledge is a little island in a great ocean of nonknowledge”. As a writer searching for stories in the past few months, I am constantly reminded that there is always more that can be discovered, learned and appreciated. It is our duty as journalists ourselves to provide our readers the opportunity to do so. I am proud to say that every story you read on Island Post will do the same for you.

This magazine is an accumulation of five hard working months. I hope you enjoy reading our stories as much as we enjoyed writing them.

Cheers,

Shafi

About Us

Meet the crew!

Abdul Shafi Anshari Bin
Abdul Aziz

Editor

Shafi is a very self-driven person that always aims to improve himself. Shafi enjoys doing street workout competitively, P.S. he is good at it. Insecure but confident at the same time, Shafi manages to humbly flex everything he is proud of through his unique joking manner. #shafiagrees

Gwen Leo Yuhan

Designer

Quiet and innocent on the outside but loud and crazy on the inside. Gwen warms up pretty quickly and her loud and crazy laughter will just fill the room and lift the mood. Moments of laughter will just randomly be heard in the room and we all already know it is from Gwen. Gwen is the kind of groupmate that will take you by surprise.

Samantha Ha Lup Leng

Sub-Editor

A phrase one would use to describe Samantha is “What is sleep?”. She’s a night owl so don’t be shocked when we tell you she has stayed up many nights. She’s an owner of two cute dogs who are just as feisty as her! Whenever groupmates get in a tussle, she will always be the mediator with her strong demeanour. We dare you to misbehave when she’s around.

Nnurul Shakinah Binte Jamaluddeen

Photographer/Reporter

Want to know the way to Shakinah’s heart? The answers are a Starbucks green tea creme frappuccino and animals. Need a hand? Well, Shakinah will always be there to offers hers to you. She always initiates first and always has your back! Patient and gentle as she comes, you can always be assured to not get judged when asking silly questions!

Stephanie Ng Zoe Yee

Visual Editor

If you meet Stephanie, you will definitely take notice of her bright smile which lights up the room! She will always try even if it gets tough for her because she knows she is always capable of more. When it comes to being a reliable team member, Stephanie’s name will always come to one’s mind. Legend says, “The going gets tough, but Stephanie gets tougher!”

Ang Yi Ning

Photographer/Reporter

Amy is a pure hearted person in disguise. She is known as a famous TikToker from Singapore and a more serious and cool person on Instagram but she is actually a very genuine and curious little kid in disguise. Her dream is to live in a bouncy castle as a home in the future. People who actually see Amy for her true self will get blessed in this lifetime.
